Emergency Fault Finding & Repairs
Electrical faults rarely happen at a convenient time. A fuse board that trips the moment you switch the kettle on, half a flat with no power, a burning smell from a socket. Resetting the trip and hoping is tempting, but the right answer is methodical testing that tracks the fault to the exact circuit, fitting or cable causing it. After 20 years I can read the signs quickly, and fault finding is the work I get called for most.
I test with calibrated equipment, make anything dangerous safe straight away and explain in plain English what I've found, with a clear price to fix it before I start. Because I run 24/7, I can get to a genuine emergency at any hour, and most faults are found and fixed in a single visit.

Fault finding questions, answered
Why does my fuse box keep tripping?
Usually a faulty appliance, moisture in an outside fitting or a damaged cable. I test circuit by circuit to find exactly which, rather than guessing. That tripping switch (the RCD) is doing its job and protecting you.
Can you come out in an emergency tonight?
Yes. I run a genuine 24/7 line, so a real emergency gets a call-out any hour. Describe what's happening on the phone and I'll tell you honestly how quickly I can be there.
Half my sockets have stopped working. Is that serious?
It's usually a broken connection on one circuit and very fixable. Loose connections make heat though, so don't leave it. I can normally trace and repair it in one visit.
How much does fault finding cost?
Most fault-finding visits in London and the home counties land between £90 and £180 for the first hour, depending on how quickly the fault shows itself. Night and weekend call-outs sit at the higher end. I confirm the price before I start, and the price I quote is the price you pay.
